Short preparation before a load
The goal is not to sing high and loud immediately. Body, articulation and voice first enter a calm coordination.
- Release shoulders, neck, jaw and face with small movements.
- Add lips, tongue and gentle sound in the speaking range.
- Move to a short phrase and expand the range only after a stable onset.
The load begins before the first song
A conductor or teacher may arrive after hours of speech. A singer may arrive after work, travel and dry air. The condition of the voice must be considered before the warm-up.
Before rehearsal
Begin with body and articulation, then add gentle sound in a comfortable range. Height and volume increase gradually.
During the work
- give short instructions
- do not shout over the choir
- alternate demonstration and independent repetition
- choose tessitura according to the day’s voice
- take short pauses
- drink water before severe dryness
After the load
A long session does not need a second intensive. Use a calm speaking voice, gentle sound and rest. Repeated pain, persistent hoarseness or voice loss requires evaluation by a qualified clinician.
