Wake articulation without tension

3 minutes

Movement becomes more precise, not stronger. The jaw remains free while tongue and lips form the word.

  1. Bring attention to the face, lips and lower jaw while breathing freely.
  2. Speak a short consonant sequence in a steady rhythm.
  3. Add a vowel and carry the same clarity into one musical phrase.

Clear text begins before sound

If lips and tongue start working only on the first line, the choir spends musical time on speech setup. A short warm-up prepares the movement.

What to check

The jaw should not lock for an open vowel. The tongue should not pull every consonant backward. The lips work precisely without holding the sound.

Move into singing

  1. sing one motif on a comfortable vowel
  2. add one consonant
  3. restore the full text
  4. check whether the line remains intact

For a choir

Have one section speak the text in rhythm. The full choir repeats it on one pitch, then returns to the written notes. Consonant mismatch becomes audible before harmony hides it.
